Proving I’m Not A.I. at the Turing Test Escape Room at 60Out Koreatown

Amidst the whirlwind of buzz surrounding A.I. and the looming sensation of an A.I. takeover, my curiosity got the better of me. While I've dabbled with tools like MidJourney and ChatGPT, a profound question began to linger in my mind: In an era where artificial intelligence seems almost indistinguishable from humans, how can we ever validate our own authenticity? Am I...human?

So, to answer this existential conundrum and offer some much-needed validation not just to myself but to my family, I embraced the Turing Test! But hold on, not just a plain old Turing Test—I dived into the 60Out Escape Rooms Turing Test.

Because let's be real, when in doubt, what better way to unearth solutions than in an escape room? The outcome? Drum roll, please... I'm a full-fledged human!

This escape room, set for a suspenseful 60-minute countdown and designed for 4-8 participants, is a medium-level challenge. Our goal? Convince the room's intricate system of our human essence, ensuring it didn't mistake us for sneaky A.I. entities scheming an escape. Now, it wasn't a solo mission. I partnered with my fiancé and a lively entourage of my four local cousins to take on this test.

We began fragmented, placed separately across four distinct chambers. Working in pairs or solo, the initial challenge revolved around communicating and collaborating to break free from these individual confines. And just when we thought uniting would be our ticket out, we realized the journey had merely begun. Our collective prowess was put to the test as we tackled a string of puzzles, each designed to tap into our five human senses.

Thanks to our combined wit, determination, and familial connection, it took us a stressful 43 minutes to solidify our human credentials.

Sharing this adrenaline-packed experience with my family was genuinely memorable—a first for me—and oh-so-reassuring. Every single one of them passed the humanity test, and I can sleep better knowing no undercover A.I. lurks in our family tree. As for 60Out, I've got my eyes set on our next escape room adventure. The question is: Which challenge will we conquer next? 🧩🔍
